In the worsening weather conditions reminiscent of Hurricane Matthew, back in October 2016, Disney Parks is closing The Walt Disney Resort in Florida again.

This time, they are closing the Disney theme parks and water parks for two days for Hurricane Ian, starting tomorrow, September 28th. Disney Springs will be closed on September 28th, and is forecast to remain closed on September 29th, but this may change depending on the conditions.

Hurricane Ian has already lashed Cuba as a category three hurricane. It is expected to strengthen to a category four when it arrives on Florida’s west coast.

Florida’s Governor Ron DeSantis has declared a state of emergency for all of Florida and mobilised 5000 National Guard troops to help with relief efforts.

Stay safe, Florida!

UPDATE 28th September:

Hurricane Ian has made landfall in Fort Myers, Florida. Sustained wind speeds of 155 miles per hour makes it a very powerful category 4 storm – just 2mph short of being a category 5, the strongest rating.

It is now ”too late to evacuate,” said Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. Residents who have not yet evacuated should stay inside until the storm has passed.

Beware of calm weather, however, as you may just be in the eye of the storm and more could follow shortly.
