Updates to the Blue Twilight: self-hosted PHP photo gallery software are released on a regular basis. They come in two flavours: feature releases and patch releases.
Feature releases add new functionality to the application. They are identified by a zero as the last digit of the version number.
Example: v2.0.0 was a feature release, as was v2.1.0 and v2.2.0 will be.
If the middle digit of the version number is also a zero (e.g. v2.0.0) it is a major feature release, where you can expect vast differences between the previous version.
Patch releases are designed to fix bugs, or enhance functionality that already exists, such as adding new cloud storage providers. Patch releases are identified by changes in the last digit of the version number.
Example: v2.0.1 and v2.0.2 are both patches to the v2.0.0 feature release.
The following roadmap is designed to be a rough idea of where I would like to take the product. It is designed from personal goals for the software, as well as feedback from the people that use it.
You can submit a request for a new feature using the project’s issue tracker on Gitea.
- Social media
Version 2.2 will see Blue Twilight become much more sociable. Users will be to register and login using their social media accounts – and subsequently be able to add comments to your photos (if you desire.)
- Share links to private albums
Additionally you will be able to send “share” links to private albums to users you want to view them, even if they don’t have an account set up on your gallery.
You can follow live progress by visiting the project’s milestones page.
